Lack of unified vision and how that stifles the development of the society
I have some skin rash now; it's itching and I cannot really focus on anything. It's not like that my entire body is covered with skin rash, but a fair portion of the body has skin rash (less than 10%?). It should heal in a week or two, but it's still quite frustrating and distressing. But this is a politics column. Why am I writing about my skin rash?
This is the second time in my life that I've got pretty bad skin rash (there was another time that I got bad skin rash, but it was a result of my walking through the mountain while I got scratched all over my body). I'm in a certain location in Southern California, and this is the second time that I stay here for a period of time. When I stayed here for a period of time for the first time, I also got bad skin rash, so it is pretty clear that there is a correlation between the location and my skin rash. I also know someone who used to live here and had very bad skin rash (much worse than mine), so I am pretty convinced that the location has something to do with skin rash. But again, this is a politics column. Why am I writing about some location in Southern California and skin rash?
It turned out that water in the location, which is an apartment complex, is harsh; it literally destroys human skin. You have to put a lot of cream and take care of your skin very carefully after you take shower; otherwise, your skin gets very rough. Given certain whether, food, your medical condition or else, you develop skin rash. The reality is that water in the area is all harsh water. No one gets clean soft water in the area. If you have to get clean soft water, you have to have water softener or water purifier in your home (house, apartment, or apartment complex). As a matter of fact, a lot of people actually have water softener, water purifier or both, but we have to wonder why we do this. What a waste? How unproductive and inefficient? If we all tip in and create a better system to deliver clean soft water to every home in the area, it would cost us much less and we can all enjoy clean soft water. Why isn't there one? It's because there is no unified vision. It's because having your own water softener or water purifier (instead of provide clean soft water to every home) makes you a better person, a winner in the society based on the misinterpreted concept of competition.
Harsh water in Southern California (and in many other regions in US) illustrates lack of unified vision and how that stifles the development of the society. It's amazing how some people actually believe that US is a developed country.
